When travelling to non-EU countries and intend to bring animal products from those countries,
or
When you want to receive a particular order of animal products from non-EU countries,

Know that:



It is forbidden the introduction in the European Union (EU) from non-EU countries of meat and dairy products for consumption, since these products can be a vehicle of animal diseases with devastating impact, such as FMD and Avian Influenza.
There are also strict rules for the introduction of other products of animal origin.

Information resources at your disposal

All entities involved, official ones or other, apart from Direção-Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária, may provide you the necessary information,  including  Autoridade  Tributária  e  Aduaneira,  travel
agencies, the carriers of goods and persons, firms handling at airports and postal services.

If you bring in your luggage banned products note:

You can deliver them to Customs for destruction, without being subject to any penalty.
If not proceed and the products are detected by Customs, in addition to products being seized you will be subject to a fine or legal process.
