Under Regulation (EC) n.º 853/2004 of 29 April, establishments that work with food of animal origin for which this Regulation lays down hygiene requirements must be approved by the Competent Authority of each Member State.
In accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) n.º 882/2004 of April 29, Member States shall maintain updated lists of approved establishments, which should be available to the public and to other Member States.
The Lists of Approved Establishments must comply with the technical specifications set out by the European Commission in SANCO/2179/2005 Document.
